Safe Church & Child Protection

At Christ the King, we want our church to be a place where everyone—especially children and youth—can experience the love of Christ in safety and peace. We are committed to creating an environment where trust, care, and accountability are at the heart of our life together.

Our Commitment

As part of the Diocese of the Rocky Mountains, we follow the diocesan Safe Church Policy, which provides clear standards for protecting children, youth, and vulnerable adults in every ministry setting. This means:

  • We take allegations of abuse seriously and follow all state laws for reporting.

  • We maintain the highest biblical and ethical standards in relationships and ministry.

  • We work proactively to prevent harm and to respond with compassion if concerns ever arise.

How We Practice Safety

To make sure our church is a safe and welcoming place, we use a simple five-step process:

  1. Screening – All clergy, staff, and volunteers who work with children and youth complete a background check before serving.

  2. Training – Volunteers are equipped through child safety training (at no cost to them) so they know how to recognize risks and respond wisely.

  3. Healthy Interaction – We follow clear guidelines for appropriate communication, supervision, and physical interaction with children and youth.

  4. Monitoring – Children’s activities are never led by just one adult. We use the “two-adult rule” and open-door policies to provide visibility and accountability.

  5. Responding & Reporting – If concerns arise, we act quickly and transparently, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the child.

Children’s Ministry Volunteers at CTK

We are deeply committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for children in all areas of church life. Anyone who serves in children’s ministry on Sundays is required to complete a background check and the Diocese’s ChildSafe training before volunteering. This helps us ensure that our littlest ones are nurtured and protected while they grow in Christ.

Small Group Policy

Because our small groups often include children, and sometimes require shared responsibility in caring for them, we extend this same commitment to safety. All adults who participate in a group where children may be present are asked to complete a background check and ChildSafe training as well. Both are provided at no cost by CTK. This small step helps us maintain a space that is safe, trustworthy, and truly welcoming for every member of the family.

A Safe Welcome for All

Children are a gift from God, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect them. Whether you’re bringing your child to worship, participating in a small group, or volunteering in children’s ministry, you can trust that safety is a shared commitment.

Our policies aren’t just rules—they’re part of how we live out the Gospel by creating a community of love, trust, and integrity.
